Learning Never Ends

Our mission at Continuing Education and University Outreach is to open the intellectual resources and programs of Cal Poly to the larger regional, state, and national communities. We do this daily by providing lifelong learning opportunities, including the Adult Degree Program, Open University, Special Session Degree Programs, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, distance learning courses, professional development certificates and personal development programs.

Each year, Continuing Education and University Outreach serves 3,500-4,000 individuals, from teenagers to our most senior citizens. Continuing Education and University Outreach not only proclaims, but practices the slogan: "Learning Never Ends."

Our students are people like you; working adults who learn for professional development or personal enrichment. Many are seeking a Cal Poly degree through our Adult Degree Program for career advancement or a mid-career change while others enroll in certificate programs for skill updating. For retired individuals, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute offers the opportunity just to experience the joy of learning. Yet for some, courses devoted to art, languages, or music help fulfill a lifelong dream.

Community and Corporate Partners

The Community and Corporate Partners Initiative recognizes the important interface between the citizens, business community, and civic organizations of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties and Cal Poly Continuing Education and University Outreach. As the University’s primary outreach and community engagement unit, Continuing Education and University Outreach serves as a vital connection between the univsersity and the community.

Giving to Continuing Education

Continuing Education and University Outreach serves thousands of lifelong learners every year. Our students are people like you who access Cal Poly's resources for lifelong learning opportunities ranging from earning a bachelor's degree through the Adult Degree Program to taking Cal Poly credit classes through Open University. We assist working adults achieve professional certificates, make mid-career changes, and update necessary job skills.
