Organizational Leadership Certificate
The Certificate in Organizational Leadership is designed for executives, managers and supervisors from the business, corporate, government, education, healthcare, service, and nonprofit sectors. It is designed for the leaders of today and tomorrow. Courses comprising the certificate are offered through Cal Poly’s Adult Degree Program. Students in the Adult Degree Program may take the courses as part of their undergraduate program of study. Individuals may take the courses without applying to the Adult Degree Program.
To earn the Certificate in Organizational Leadership students complete the following five courses:
- IS 352 Organizational Leadership
- SOC 315 Global Race and Ethnic Relations
- SOC 395 Sociology of Complex Organizations
- PHIL 335 Social Ethics
- IS 453 Special Topics in Organizational Leadership
All courses carry four units of academic credit. Courses are offered weekday evenings and/or in condensed weekend formats. In order to earn the Certificate in Organizational Leadership, students must successfully complete all five courses. Modifications in the courses constituting the Certificate in Organizational Leadership may be made to reflect changing trends or current national issues.
To Be Admitted:
The Certificate in Organizational Leadership operates on an open enrollment admissions basis. Participants can begin taking courses in any quarter. In order to start the program, interested individuals must submit a resume or vita, the application form, and the application fee. All applicants must possess prior experience in an organizational setting which may include, but not be limited to the corporate, small business, nonprofit, educational or service sectors.
Students who have been admitted to the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies do not have to apply for admission to the Certificate in Organizational Leadership and may complete the certificate as part of their program of study.
